Cruise and Maritime new fleet for 2013

Cruise and Maritime have confirmed the joining of the cruise ship 'Discovery' to their 2013 fleet!

This has came as a a new launch of a long term joint venture between Cruise and Maritime and the highly respected All Leisure Holidays Ltd.
This new development will see the re-positioning of the Voyages of Discovery's loved 700 passeneger cruise ship Discovery to the Cruise and Maritime fleet hopefully in February 2013 after an docking and an intensive refurbishment programme over the winter period.

This means that all the current Ocean Countess programmes and will schedule as normal except a change of itinerary in the final ex-Liverpool 13 night Canary Islands & Maderia Cruise on the 9th October 2012 - now know as the Farewell Voyage - which now ends in Barcelona instead of Liverpool, meaning a return flight element.
Booked passengers to this revised itinerary will be offered direct transfers at no extra cost to the passengers.

This upgrade and change to the fleet has resulted in some revisions ot the published summer 2013 cruise programme but the majority remains the same.

This could is very exciting news for Cruise and Maritimes clients both previous and potential!

New fee with Carnival Cruises?

Carnival Cruise Line is testing out a new fee, that would, among other things, allow priority seating at dinner.

While it may seem the airlines have cornered the market on fees, they may have a little competition from hotels and at least one cruise line.

Carnival's $49.95 Faster to the Fun fee is being tested on two ships starting later this month – the Imagination and the Liberty. The program is an industry first, according to cruise experts.

"We've never seen anything like this," said Dan Askin, senior editor at CruiseCritic.com. "There are a couple tangentially related fee-for-perks programs, but they focus on late debarkation."

The charge is per cabin, regardless of the number of passengers. It includes the aforementioned priority dinner seating, plus early embarkation and choice of debarkation time, cabin availability and access to the ships' guest services desk during the cruise.

"If the trials are successful, it wouldn't surprise me to see others experimenting with similar programs," said Askin. "Lines have shown time and again their penchant for sharing ideas."

This could be something new that could be introduced to many other cruise lines if seen as successful.
